Activity 1: Linking Wood to Indigenous Culture Uses
Where do we find wood in our everyday life?
It is all around us: it is used to build houses, for art, for transportation, and so much more. Here we will do an activity to get you thinking about where wood is used, not only right now, but how indigenous cultures used wood (making tipis, drums, toys, etc.) Look through magazines or online (and print the pictures off) and attach pictures to the tree, or draw the pictures yourself to show different items, both indigenous and western, that are made using wood. Attach these pictures to the branches of the trees or draw in the branches of the trees.
